About Kerala Ayurveda Amrutharishtam
Amritarishta is also known as Amrutarishta, Amritarishtam etc.It is a liquid Ayurvedic medicine prepared from Giloy, Dashmul, Trikatu and many other ingredients. Amritarishta contains about 5 ? 8 % of self generated natural alcohol in it. This self generated alcohol and the water present in the product acts as a media to deliver water and alcohol soluble the active herbal components to the body.

Fevers & Infections
Amrutharishtam is mainly recommendable in low grade fevers or chronic fevers in which patients experience fatigue, loss of strength, body pains, loss of interest and restlessness. It helps mitigation of all these symptoms. Additionally, it helps to release toxins (called AMA in ayurveda), which are responsible for the inflammation and occurrence of fever. It is beneficial for reducing symptom like burning sensation in the whole body, heat sensation, restlessness, body aches, and fatigue.Along with other medicines for infections, it reduces span of fever and boosts recovery from associated infections. It enhances non-specific immunity and increase immune intelligence, which aids fighting off infections.The mild antipyretic action of Amrutharishtam also helps reduce fever. Accompanying with Praval Pishti, its antipyretic action increases and works like modern antipyretic medicines.After fever and infections, it helps restoring the strength, reduces physical weakness and improves appetite.

Typhoid Fever
In typhoid fever, Giloy (Tinospora Cordifolia) in Amrutharishtam inhibits the growth of salmonella typhi bacteria and reduces antigen titer. Its use along with Vasant Malti Ras can also help to reduce tendency of becoming chronic carriers of typhoid fever. Along with other ayurvedic medicines, it is useful in the treatment of typhoid fever. It is also helpful in debility that occurs after typhoid fever and helps clearing the toxins developed in the body.

Cough
Amrutharishtam can provide relief from acute and chronic cough. Dosage of Kerala Ayurveda Amrutharishtam
12 ? 24 ml. one or two times a day, usually advised after food.
If needed, equal quantity of water can be added before consumption.
Precautions For Kerala Ayurveda Amrutharishtam
Safe in lower doses for kids above 3 years of age. Accidental over-dosage should be strictly avoided.
Pregnancy and lactation
Best to avoid during pregnancy, however can be taken after consulting doctor. Can be taken during lactation period, after consulting doctor.
Diabetes
As jaggery is one of the ingredients, it should be not be used in diabetes.
Hyperacidity
Due to its sour taste, it should be avoided in hyperacidity and ulcers.
Ulcers
Amrutharishtam may worsen the conditions in the case of ulcers or ulcerative colitis.
Amrutharishtam is prepared using natural herbal ingredients. Hence, it does not cause any serious side effects. It may cause a few mild adverse effects like gastric irritation when it is used in very high doses. Patients with diabetes are advised to use this medicine with caution as it contains jaggery, which can increase the blood sugar levels.
