Bala Thailam ? the name itself signifies the importance of the main ingredient, Bala (Sida cordifolia). Bala, which means ?strength? in Sanskrit. This is one herb that promotes the strength of the body by its therapeutic effects and is widely used in Ayurvedic formulations. It is also considered as the most effective curing Vata related ailments, characterized by severe pain. Bala Thailam of Kerala Ayurveda Ltd is an effective combination of around 52 ingredients in the right proportion. Prepared in Tila thailam (sesame oil), with the goodness of goat?s milk, Bala Thailam is renowned for its effect in arthritis and neurological diseases. The presence of like Guduchi (Tinosporia cordifolia), Rasna (Alpinia officinarum), Devadharu (Cedrus deodara) etc. which are good pain relieving agents, compliments the main ingredient Bala in its therapeutic actions. Bala Thailam is found to be very effective in diseases affecting the nervous system such as hemiplegia, paraplegia and facial paralysis. Bala Thailam Can be applied externally, all over the body before bath. Massage with warm Bala Thailam for a period of 30 minutes, helps in greater absorption of oil and is highly recommended in neurological and muscular ailments.
Bala Thailam is also used in Nasya procedure (instillation of medication through nose) and is found to be beneficial in diseases affecting eyes, ears, nose, face and head.
Traditional healers of Ayurveda used to prescribe small quantities of Bala Thailam internally, along with various Kashayas or suitable adjuvants in specific cases.
